Vacuum-packed pouches rolls food preservation
Vacuum-packed pouches rolls food preservation
What is vacuum
Vacuum packaging means extracting air from a container or bag to preserve the contents from the harmful effects of oxygen, such as oxidation or the development of mould and bacteria. For vacuum packing to be effective and to be maintained over time, the container and the bag must be properly sealed.
Vacuum storage is important and very useful because all foods, in contact with air, undergo changes. Air and humidity cause mould and microorganisms to develop in food, loss of flavour and aroma, and changes in colour. Preservation systems (such as refrigeration, deep-freezing, drying, etc.), using special humidity and temperature conditions, aim to mitigate and prevent these changes; the vacuum packingair extraction significantly extends the shelf life of both fresh and preserved food, up to 4 times longer under normal conditions.
Vacuum storage also allows the flavour, aroma, colour and nutritional qualities of food to be preserved.
The advantages of vacuum food storage
SAVING MONEY
You can buy products in larger quantities and at the most suitable times, keeping them fresh and intact!
WASTE IS AVOIDED
Excess food portions will no longer be wasted, but can be vacuum-packed and used later!
SAVING TIME
You can cook your dishes at your leisure, store them in a vacuum, and use them at the most opportune moment simply by heating them up!
IMPROVED HYGIENE
Vacuum storage prevents the development of mould, bacteria, microorganisms. It allows you to use the refrigerator and freezer while avoiding the risks of contamination between foodstuffs and the dispersion of odours!
SIMPLICITY
With vacuum appliances, everyone can achieve a professional-quality vacuum at home. Choose theappliance best suited to one's domestic needsand a complete set of accessories for all types of storage. Or choose the professional vacuum machine you are interested in from a wide selection of quality articles.
LONGER FOOD SHELF LIFE
Vacuum storage extends the shelf life of food over time. The following table shows indicative data on how food preservation can be extended over time by using Royal Pack vacuum packs:
Warnings when using vacuum pouches and bags
The shelf life of food depends to a large extent on the condition of the food at the time of packaging.
In fact, vacuum packaging does not replace other preservation systems. Consequently, vacuum packing should be used in conjunction with other systems to achieve better and longer-lasting preservation.
Furthermore, some foods can only be preserved under special temperature conditions. They must therefore be stored in the refrigerator or freezer even if vacuum-packed.
In fact, all pre-packaged products must in any case be consumed before the expiry date indicated on the packaging.
Some fruits and vegetables must be peeled or blanched and frozen before vacuum packing. This is to prevent them from releasing gas after packaging.
Thus, vacuum packaging can extend the normal shelf life of products by two to four times.
For vacuum packaging, the appropriate bags and containers are required. Choosing unsuitable bags can allow air to enter the bag or cause breakage due to the pressure of the product on the bag.

Quality of Royal Pack vacuum pouches
The universal embossed vacuum pouches and bags for foodstuffs ROYAL PACK are composed of several layers of polyethylene and polyamide. These are obtained by choosing the best available polymers.
In fact, the starting film is obtained through the process of co-extrusion in a flat head of the various polymers. This type of processing, which requires a highly complex industrial processguarantees uniform thicknesses and high quality of the finished product.
Subsequently, the resulting film undergoes heat treatment to obtain the embossing. This is a special heat treatment on one of the polyethylene layers. It allows a diamond pattern to be obtained on one side of the bag without altering the properties of the initial material. Thus, with this process, a vacuum can be obtained with the use of external suction machines.
Finally, the embossed film and the smooth film are joined to form the vacuum bag, through special production lines that guarantee high quality results, absence of defects and compliance with hygiene standards.
In fact, vacuum-packed bags ROYAL PACK 105 micron embossed bags are ideal for this type of machine! These, in fact, are not capable of proper vacuum extraction using smooth bags.

Embossing: what is it for?
La embossing is a thermal process of film processing of which vacuum bags are made. It consists of modifying the polyethylene structure of one layer of the bags in order to impregnate it with a particular surface pattern. This processing neither adds nor removes material but simply changes the shape.
Why is it necessary to emboss the vacuum bag? The reason is simple. This process is in fact necessary to create gaps inside the bag from which air can escape. In fact, in an externally suctioned vacuum machine, the vacuum is only carried out in a small chamber (called the vacuum chamber). Inside this are the extreme edges of the bag, i.e. the open part. If the vacuum bag were smooth, the two flaps would touch at all points due to the pressure of the machine lid which is used to close the vacuum chamber. At that point, air would no longer be able to be drawn out of the bag and, therefore, suction would not occur.
The embossed inner part, on the other hand, allows for suction and, at the same time, guarantees the possibility of welding well after suction is completed.
Vacuum pack layers: what are they for?
REBER embossed vacuum bags and pouches for food are co-extruded multilayer products. This means that each flap of the bag, i.e. each sheet, is on the inside made up of several layers. They are extruded at the same time, i.e. at the stage where the polyethylene and polyamide polymer is processed into reels.
The REBER vacuum bag features a double layer of polyethylene and a middle layer of polyamide. The polyethylene is the ideal material to come into contact with food. In fact, it is particularly stable, does not absorb oil and prevents the formation of mould and moisture inside the bag. The polyamide, on the other hand, is the material that provides the barrier effect but is sensitive to moisture. For this, it is insulated between two layers of polyethylene. The vacuum bag, therefore, can benefit from the combined effect of two quality plastic materials to ensure food preservation.
How to use the vacuum bag correctly
The use of vacuum bags is extremely simple and free of any difficulty. Nevertheless, it is worth pointing out some particularities of this product, which may be useful when using it.
Firstly, the vacuum bag is particularly thick compared to other types of plastic commonly used in the home. For this, its sealing requires machines with special sealing bars. The vacuum machinesIn fact, they are equipped with more powerful sealing bars than normal sealing machines, precisely so that each bag can be sealed optimally. The sealing of the vacuum bag depends solely on the quality of the sealing bar of the vacuum machine used. Failure to seal a vacuum bag is only due to the fact that the vacuum machine cannot do it. In such cases, we recommend trying several times to get the sealing bar up to temperature or adjusting the machine for longer sealing times, if possible.
If, on the other hand, you have the impression that the machine does not vacuum well, we recommend following these two simple steps:
- adjust the vacuum bag flaps well inside the vacuum chamberas close as possible to the nozzle from which the air is drawn;
- support the vacuum bag at the bottom so that it does not form loops but remains parallel to the work surface. This makes it easier for the machine to suction.
