Description
ARTUS D03 digital food dehydrator dryer is an ideal product for drying food at home.
In fact, this product has an attractive circular design and is made of white, transparent plastic. The transparent plastic structure allows you to visually check the progress of the drying process without having to open the lid. The machine also has circular plates that are also transparent and perforated at the bottom to allow air circulation.
The Artus D03 dryer is equipped with five fully withdrawable drawers about 3.3 centimetres highlarge capacity to hold sliced food. Each drawer is evenly perforated to allow high air circulation.
Hot air useful for drying is forcibly delivered from below. Inside this dryer, therefore, a kind of 'oven effect' is created, even though the temperature is relatively low. The hot air naturally flows upwards, allowing the food in all drawers to be dehydrated. We recommend that you start loading food from the bottom upwards to speed up the drying process.
For more information on the product's characteristics and how to use it, please read the user and maintenance manual included in the package.
Special notes on ARTUS D03 digital food dehydrator dryer
Food drying is typically a slow procedure. It does not happen immediately or with just a few minutes of machine operation. In fact it is programmed to stay on for up to 72 hours consecutively.
Furthermore, this appliance is designed to dry food normally in slices or otherwise in pieces. It is not made for drying large-volume foods, nor for smaller foods placed inside whole and not in pieces. Furthermore, drying varies greatly depending on the moisture content of the foodstuff you want to dry.
By way of example, the product will not give an excellent result if you try to dry a whole cucumber, because the amount of water contained inside the cucumber is relatively high. Conversely, arranging lots of cucumber slices in various drawers will allow them to be dried comfortably!
Finally, it is important to consider that this machine is not a food drying chamber or a cooking chamber! In fact, the drawers present serve not only to place food inside but also to define the maximum shapes that can be dried with this tool.
Drawers and accessories
As our pictures show well, the drawers rest on a series of steel pins that support them. The external handles are particularly practical for transporting the product. In fact, this Reber stainless steel dryer is designed to be placed in several places in the home or workshop.
Installed on the bottom is the element connected to the motor, which allows hot air to be injected into the interior. From the picture, you can clearly see the black cover of the hot air nozzle.
Inside the package is a practical plastic and steel support to help pull out drawers of the dryer without getting burnt. It is indeed important to bear in mind that steel is a very good thermal conductor. Therefore, especially if the machine is used for long hours and at high temperatures, it is possible for it to overheat. It is therefore necessary not to cover the machine, but rather to allow the heat to dissipate from the outer walls. In addition, the use of this practical stand allows the drawers to be pulled out without any problems.
Using the digital dryer
Below are some guidelines for using theARTUS D03 digital food dehydrator. All this information is detailed in the instruction manual.
Before using the machine to dehydrate food, it is advisable to wash the trays and dry them thoroughly.
When first used, run the digital dryer without food for 10 minutes and wash the trays again if necessary.
Food preparation methods:
- Washing and drying food
- Remove the nuts from the fruits (fruits and vegetables can be peeled or unpeeled according to the user's taste, but with the skin, the drying process is longer). To prevent the food from oxidising during drying, it is recommended to blanch it in lemon and water and dry it thoroughly before placing it in the trays. Legumes require a longer drying time
- Foodstuffs must be cut into equal pieces to equalise drying.
- Place the food in the trays. As a guide: fresh fruit: 600 g per tray; fresh pulses: 300 /400 g per tray; fruit and pulses with the skin on: place the skin downwards; fruit and pulses in rounds: place in steps
